Install Automation Shortlisted for ICT Excellence Award

INSTALL AUTOMATION LTD SHORTLISTED IN ICT EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2010

Birmingham-based Install Automation Ltd has announced today that it and its Open AV product is a finalist in the Green Technology category of the ICT Excellence Awards 2010.

The Birmingham company, which currently employs ten people at its head office in Pope Street in the Jewellery Quarter, achieved the shortlist for Open AV, an advanced energy and automation control solution that connects, controls and monitors the functions, systems and entertainment in residential and commercial buildings through simple web enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets and personal computers. Along with the other finalists, Install Automation will present its submission to a panel of judges before the winners of the coveted technology awards are announced in November at a prestigious awards evening.

Mike Musson, ICT Cluster Manager comments: “The number of entries rose by over 30% this year so competition has been extremely tough. The innovation and hard-work demonstrated by this year’s entrants will make judging harder than ever.”

Adam Kent, Managing Director of Install Automation Ltd said: “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this prestige award, Open AV is critical to our growth and the recognition of the hard work carried out over the last three years raises awareness and encourages us to press ahead with further development. The assistance we have received locally through Business Link, Advantage West Midlands and Investbx and Birmingham City Council to reach this milestone, epitomises the innovative approach of Birmingham towards assisting small business growth.”

OpenAV provides whole house integration with control and real time monitoring of energy usage through connection to any type of smart meter or energy sensor, amalgamating information from electricity, water, gas and other utilities into one screen. The real-time energy readouts and load controls of OpenAV are clear and informative, enabling homeowners to see how much energy their home is consuming and the effect of switching off energy-consuming devices.

Open AV also facilitates control and power-saving of house functions, such as room temperature, whole-house lighting, door entry, security and all audio-video sources. These can be accessed and controlled and managed via most smartphones, tablets, pc’s or over the Internet from any web enabled device and location.

“The awards provide a great insight into the sheer diversity and talent on offer in the West Midlands technology community and beyond,” continues Mike. “The ICT Cluster, comprising technology businesses, educational establishments and support organisations working in collaboration, is enabling the West Midlands to build a dynamic regional economy as well as compete successfully in the competitive ICT marketplace, on a global level.”

All shortlisted companies will be eligible for membership of the exclusive ICT Excellence Club. The Club, which meets bi-monthly, was set up to encourage award-winning businesses to share knowledge, create business opportunities and accelerate growth in the region and beyond.

The Annual ICT Excellence Awards were established in 2005. They aim to showcase successful and innovative ICT companies and public sector organisations, of all types and sizes, and provide recognition to their teams for all their hard work and effort.

The winners will be announced at an evening awards ceremony following the annual ICT Conference on 25th November 2010, which is being held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill, Solihull.
